Regulation (EU) 2023/1114, Article 143(3)
October 16, 2026
MiCA let crypto firms that were operating legally under national law before 30 December 2024 continue until 1 July 2026, or until their MiCA application was granted or refused. Member states could shorten that period, and many did. The Netherlands, for example, ended its transitional period on 30 June 2025.
Once a country's transitional period ends, a firm serving customers there needs a MiCA permission of its own or a passport from another member state. VASPnet's paper Three months post MiCA deadline tracks what changed after the last periods closed.
