Large crypto businesses rarely operate through a single company. A group may run separate entities for different countries or services, each with its own licence, registration or none at all. Before MiCA, Coinbase held 13 registrations across the EU under two legal entities. It now operates under one MiCA authorisation issued in Luxembourg.

For counterparty checks, the entity that serves your customers is the one to verify, and that entity can change when a group restructures. VASPnet users can subscribe to a VASP group and receive notifications when its membership changes.
